4" Quaich Serpent Handle

Coiled serpents form the handles of this four-inch quaich. At display size the modelling shows properly — the coils have depth rather than being suggested in outline. An older motif than knotwork and a considerably less domesticated one. English pewter, cast in Sheffield.
